About the Library
Located in the Administration Building, the Koerwitz Library serves middle and upper school students and the faculty and staff of Faith Lutheran Middle School and High School. The library supports the philosophy and educational goals of our school to fully nurture the potential of each individual and prepare students to serve as leaders in tomorrow’s world by focusing on three things:
- Information Literacy
- Information literacy is the ability to effectively find, evaluate, and use information across all media and disciplines, all vital skills in our complex 21st century information landscape.
- Diverse Collections
- The library strives to meet the individual educational, emotional, and recreational needs of students by maintaining a collection full of diverse viewpoints in a variety of formats such as books, ebooks, audiobooks, and online databases.
- Curricular Support & Collaboration
- The library strives to support FLMS and FLHS teachers by providing curriculum materials and resources and collaborating across grades and disciplines to enrich lessons with information literacy skills.
General Library Rules
• Standard school and classroom rules apply in the library
- Social distancing is currently required and students are asked to sit/stand 6 feet apart.
• Water/hydro bottles with lids are allowed.
• Food is currently not allowed due to COVID-19. MASKS are required at all times except for sips of water.
• Students in the library should always be respectful of other students, classes, and adult groups using the library.

Students may check out 4 items plus a charger at a time. Students can renew items through email or in person. Students can renew books through email twice, and after that must renew items in person in the library.
Students will receive a reminder email reminder each week the item is overdue. Parents are also mailed a letter each week an item is overdue.
Lost Items
If a student believes they have lost a book/charger or other equipment, they should notify the library immediately. Student accounts will be charged the following:
- Books: a minimum of $25 or the cost of the book plus library processing fees
- Chargers: Ipad brick: $49, Ipad/iphone cord: $19, laptop charger: $79
- Loaner laptops: replacement cost as determined by tech department
- Other items: as determined by librarian/availability
